(Rabbit) Doubt

Doubt, a horrifying thrilling psychological suspense manga. You know the saying "wolf in sheep skin?", well, this is a story of a "wolf in rabbit skin". Well, basically, the moral of the story is that kiddies should not play any old game out there. Heh.

After the first few chapters, initial impression felt familiar and vaguely reminded me of 'Battle Royale', 'Kindaichi', 'And then there were none' (Agatha Christie). Yea. I didnt read the synopsis, as it didnt seem to make much sense.

Reading on, i realised the game was similar to those Werewolf RP games on the boards. Only in this case, there's no Seer, Gravedigger, et cetera role; it's purely Rabbits vs Wolf.

Not one for horror, this story got me pretty hooked due to the plot but yea, the gore, blood and slicing of stuff made me hold my breath on many an occasion. Every time i see the axe i get squirmy. Argh. Reading it alone downstairs late at night doesnt help btw.

The character's psychological changes were interesting to note. But though the plot's pretty good - i'm talking of the suspense factor, there's really not much character development going on, after all, they're all killed off pretty fast - the Wolf's identify was rather obvious after a while.

And the wolf, shucks, its(to avoid spoiling it for anyone) really sick in the head. Like some regular psychopath and all. But then again, i suppose that's what horror/suspense/mystery stories are all about. And the good art (which added to the freak-me-out-factor) is another minus plus point. I suppose i should commend myself and the manga (for finishing all 17 uploaded chapters) for 'motivating' me enough to read on. After all, i didnt even manage to get past 5 pages for The World is Mine.

Gah. The story still gives me the creeps. Still, i wanna know what's next in the upcoming issue. Bunnies are scary.
